Delicious Autumn

One of my favorite quotes is by George Eliot:

Delicious autumn!  My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
It's exactly how I feel. I love Autumn. I feel like I spend the entire summer biding my time until I see the first hint of color on the Vine Maples and I wake up to that crisp feeling in the air that tells you fall is just around the corner.
There is just so much to love about fall. The season is filled with the comforting scents of fresh baked apple crisp, cloves, cinnamon. And the explosion of color is so lovely in my corner of the world; reds, oranges, shades of yellow. Breathtaking.
The small town that we moved to almost 10 years ago is called Mapleton and for good reason. The hills that surround the area are covered in Vine Maple and fall is a time of amazing transformation. Around the end of August, all the green hills start to get just a faint hint of red here and there. As the months progress and the weather gets cooler, more and more color appears and then one morning, as if by magic, it looks like someone has taken a huge paint brush with every possible color of fall and created a masterpiece on every hill.
I love the clothes of Autumn too. Warm sweaters, layered outfits, great scarves, warm wool socks. The comforting feel of all those layers  is like a big warm hug embracing my body. Just so nice.
So, with fall in my heart, I'm heading into the shop this morning to work up some nice Apple Jack 'N Peel soy candles and see what other fall creations I can come up with. I'm sure there will be more posts singing the praises of Autumn to follow!
